Honorary Chair: Philippines Ambassador to U.S. His Excellency Ambassador Jose L. Cuisia, Jr.

Dear Community Supporter,

As the Philippine Humanitarian Coalition (PHC) enters the final months of 2015, we are pleased to announce that we are co-hosting a 5k run/walk fundraiser with the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Metro DC (PACC-DC) at Fairfax Corner on Sunday, December 6th. We are also very humbled and excited to announce His Excellency Ambassador Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. shall serve as our planning committee’s Honorary Chair.

A portion of net proceeds will be donated to All Hands Volunteers (, a 501(c)3 charitable organization that is currently assisting with rebuilding and recovery efforts in Nepal. See what they are doing for Nepal:

Why Nepal?
In April 2015, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 hit Nepal. Over 9,000 people lost their lives and 23,000 were injured. Hundreds of thousands lost their homes or were displaced and centuries-old buildings were destroyed at UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley. While we are several months removed from this disaster, our Nepalese brothers and sisters still need help.

Join our Thunderclap!

Thunderclap is the first crowd-speaking platform that helps people be heard by saying something together.

If we reach our supporter goal, Thunderclap will blast out a timed Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr post from all our supporters, creating a wave of attention. It's free and only takes one click!

A United Filipino American Community Response
In November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda struck Tacloban. The devastation was horrific as it was seen across all mainstream media outlets. As we watched the events unfold, our community took action and responded by forming PHC. But, something just as incredible happened. Other communities rallied together and donated large sums of money to the recovery and rebuilding efforts. No one asked these communities for donations. They simply felt it was their duty to help in any way they could. With families still working through the recovery process in Nepal, let's unite once again to help those in need.

5k Run/Walk Donation and Participation
We kindly encourage that your organization be represented at the event by sending a group of runners to participate in the 5k run/walk. To register, please forward the following link to your membership and let us know by November 5th (just so we may gauge general interest) with an estimated number of runners participating in the event:
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, December 6th at Fairfax Corner! For more information on registration, group rates, or sponsorship opportunities, contact Sharon Jackson (PHC) at, Hazel Russell (PHC) at, or Toni Dakanay (PHC) at
